Relaxation: Gateway to the Subconscious Mind

Relaxation is the gateway to the subconscious mind.  And when the subconscious comes to the forefront of the mind, the stage is set for hypnosis to begin.

By becoming still, relaxing the mind, body, and emotions, the gateway to the powerful subconscious mind (and the Creative Level of Mind) is opened.  Relaxation leads to the alpha state which is the brainwave state associated with relaxation, visualization, and beginning hypnosis.  In the alpha state, the subconscious mind is accessed as the conscious mind, though still present, takes a bit of a back seat.  In this extremely relaxed state, our minds are ripe for suggestion.  In this state, old belief systems can be changed and new belief systems created.  A more profound state of focus and relaxation can induce the theta state of mind--the brainwave state associated with memory; learning; deep hypnosis; meditation; light sleep; and out-of-body experiences.  The theta state of mind can be utilized to powerfully reprogram the subconscious.

There are many techniques and aids available to open the subconscious part of our minds and reach alpha and theta states: hypnosis (via hypnotic inductions); holotropic breathwork; prayer; contemplation; meditation; brainwave entrainment; and audio and visual mind machines--to name a few.  Which method is best suited for you?  Whatever method that feels comfortable and works for you.  If we want to make powerful, effective changes in our lives, the changes must be made at both the conscious and subconscious levels of the mind in order for the Creative Level of Mind to manifest our desires.  Deciding to make a change at the conscious level of the mind is easy.  Making the change at the subconscious level, however, can be a bit of a challenge and requires commitment, a strong desire, and a working understanding of how the subconscious mind works.  Once we enter into a highly relaxed state of being, once we have become “still,” the exciting journey of transformation can begin.  To facilitate a better understanding of our subconscious mind, let's first take a look at the Functions of the Subconscious before moving on to explore the ways in which we can convince our subconscious to help us make powerful and effective changes in our lives.
